This guide walks you from zero to your first verified voter ID. New accounts get a $5 USD signup credit, so you can hit the API immediately. Already have an RFCCheck or CURPCheck account? Log in with it and skip to step 3.
1. Create an account
Sign up and confirm your email. Your $5 credit appears in your dashboard.
2. Generate an API key
From the dashboard, open API Keys and create a new key. Keys are shown once, so copy yours into your secret manager before leaving the page.
3. Make your first call
The verify endpoint costs 10 credits and returns INE's answer for the credential. Use the CIC and citizen ID from a real credential; the values below only illustrate the format.
curl -X POST https://inecheck.com/v1/ine/verify \
-H "x-api-key: rfc_your_api_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"cic": "123456789", "id_ciudadano": "987654321"}'
You should get back something like:
{
"cic": "123456789",
"found": true,
"status": "vigente",
"message": "INE reports this credential is current.",
"credential": {
"modelo": "e",
"vigente": true,
"clave_elector": "PRMRJN80010109H400",
"numero_emision": "2",
"vigencia": "2032-12-31"
}
}
4. Read the answer
| status | Meaning |
|---|---|
vigente |
INE reports the credential as current. |
no_vigente |
INE reports the credential is no longer valid as identification. |
no_encontrada |
INE has no current record for these identifiers: the numbers are wrong, or the credential was replaced by a newer one. |
5. Handle errors
The API uses standard HTTP status codes. See Errors for the full list.
